Home – School – Child Agreement

The following statement describes North Clifton Primary School’s ethos, aims and values:

“We are a small school with big ideas. At North Clifton it is our vision that all children will become independent learners. We believe in nurturing their passion, encouraging their individuality and personalising their learning. We believe that the children who take ownership of their learning will achieve their very best. Through the dedication of the staff, the support of the family and the drive of the children, all at North Clifton will challenge themselves and realise their full potential.”

In signing this Agreement, we will all be formally affirming our belief in the importance of a strong partnership between our pupils, our parents and the school.

School will:

  • Value and respect each child as an individual.
  • Encourage children to achieve her/his full potential as an important member of our school community, in a safe, happy and caring environment.
  • Provide a broad and balanced curriculum designed to meet her/his needs.
  • Encourage high standards of work and behaviour by establishing good relationships and developing a sense of responsibility in all pupils.
  • Work in close partnership with parents/carers in order to enable all pupils to realise their full potential.
  • Provide opportunities for independent learning; encouraging the children to challenge themselves.
  • Continue to develop our open and welcoming philosophy, by encouraging parents/carers to become involved in the daily life of the school and by regularly keeping them informed about their child’s progress and behaviour.
  • Encourage your child to take care of their surroundings and others around them.

Parents and carers should:

  • Support the school’s aims, ethos and British Values.

  • Ensure that your child attends school regularly and on time.

  • Notify the school, on the first day, of the reason, in the event of your child not attending.

  • Make the school aware of any concerns or problems which may affect her/his behaviour.

  • Support the schools ‘Code of conduct’ for behaviour.

  • Support your child in completing homework tasks, which may include reading, writing, spelling and mathematics.

  • Attend parent’s evenings and other discussions concerning your child’s progress.

  • Park in the car park when dropping off and collecting your child.

Pupils’ agreement:

  • I will be kind and polite to everyone in our school.
  • I will show respect to everyone who attends or visits the school.
  • I will look after school property and that of everyone in school.
  • I will follow instructions at the first request.
  • I will do my work (including any homework) and allow everyone else to do the same.
  • I will have a positive attitude towards my work and persevere when I find work more challenging.
  • I am aware of the importance of attending school regularly and of being organised for each session of the day.
