ICT in the 21st Century is seen as an essential resource to support learning and teaching, as well as playing an important role in the everyday lives of children, young people and adults. Consequently, schools need to build in the use of these technologies in order to arm our young people with the skills to access life-long learning and employment.

 

At North Clifton Primary School, we understand the responsibility to educate our pupils on e-Safety issues; teaching them the appropriate behaviours and critical thinking skills to enable them to remain both safe and legal when using the internet and related technologies, in and beyond the context of the classroom.

 

The online safety of our children is of paramount importance to the school and something that we monitor and revisit regularly. Our Online-Safety Policy explains how we do this and is available for you to download below.

 

We also understand that parents and carers will also be very concerned about their children and ensuring they are safe when using the Internet at home. Please see the information and external links below for further information.

 

Staying Safe

Firstly, we encourage all parents to set up internet filtering and parental controls. To learn how to do this for many of the major providers, please click below:

We also urge parents/carers to talk to their children about how to use the Internet at home and how to behave safely. Children can report any inappropriate content, contact or conduct they encounter online to CEOP (Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre) by visiting their website (link below) and clicking the report button.

Parents can also download an e-safety poster fro the internet. We would recommend downloading one and putting it up next to your computer and talking to your child about it.

Using ICT at North Clifton Primary School 

 

We discussed how much fun you can have on the computer. But, we also discussed that it is important to BE SMART and keep yourself safe.

We agreed the following rules as a school:

I will remember the SMART safety rules

​

1. Keep Safe.

2. Don't Meet up.

3. Accepting emails can be dangerous.

4. Reliable! Information on the Internet may not be real.

5. Tell a responsible adult if something worries you. 

​

• I will shut down the computers properly.

• I will not look at or delete other people's work files.

• I will never change file or folder names.

• I will look after the school's computers.

• I will ask for help, if I don't know what to do on the computer.

• I will only use computers for school work and homework.

• I will ask permission from a member of staff before using the Internet.

• I will remember that some material on the Internet is copyright protected.

• I will talk to a teacher if I see something I do not understand.
